The President of the Xunta de Galicia advances almost 4.5 million euros investment between 2014 and 2015 to set up a body of research that will strengthen the position of the Hospital veterinarian University of the Foundation Rof Codina reference
The Campus of Lugo will have a focal point in veterinary biomedicine, which will have more exixentes European quality standards.
Feijoo highlights that it will be unique facilities in Spain in the relative to the study of large and medium-sized animals and that they will be willing to cooperate with any company or research center accredited in Europe.
He stressed that the CEBIOVET aims to ensure the renewal of the European accreditation of the Faculty of veterinary medicine in accordance with the legislation which will enter into force in 2018 and cater to the growing demands of the research groups of the campus in the agricultural and livestock field.
Stresses that the Center will allow to intensify relations with other centres of reference, as well as between universities and companies in the sector.
Frame construction in compliance with the plan of university funding and the plan promotes Lugo, as well as the objective of Lugo to become a pole of development of innovation in the field of veterinary medicine.
The President of the Galician Government, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, advanced today, at the press conference after the Council, which the Campus of Lugo will have a center of reference in veterinary biomedicine, which will have the highest European quality standards.
After pointed out that the construction of the new Centre for research in biomedicine and veterinary medicine (CEBIOVET) will have an investment of nearly 4.5 million euros in 2014 and 2015, Feijoo stressed that these facilities will be "unique in Spain in the large and medium-sized animals and, therefore, will strengthen the position of the Veterinary Hospital University of Foundation Rof Codina on research in these matters".
In addition, facilities will be "with all the quality standards for which they can be works in partnership with any company or any research center accredited in Europe". I.e., that the facilities will be in accordance with the latest regulations for the characteristics that must have centres where research is carried out - 2013 year - animal, with conditions of quality, also, today, with very few centres of this type in Europe.
In front of these characteristics, Feijoo stressed that the CEBIOVET was created with three basic objectives: ensure the renewal of the European accreditation of the Veterinary Faculty of the campus of Lugo in the year 2018, in which the Rof Codina hospital plays an important role, as head of the practical teaching of the faculty, the only veterinary medicine which exists in Galicia; and to respond to the growing demands of research of the Faculty and campus groups, "every time that the province of Lugo has a striking research activities linked to sectors such as the agricultural and livestock".
In addition, and as a third objective, this Centre will intensify relations with other centres of reference, as well as between universities and with the Spanish companies of the agricultural and livestock sector, contributing to the establishment of new strategic partnerships of great importance, with the economic boost that this entails.
The owner of the Board summed up stressing that it is the launch of a new Research Center "in compliance with the University financing plan", it is situated in the Campus of Lugo, belonging to the University of Santiago de Compostela, relying on the strengthening of the Faculty of veterinary medicine, "becoming a pole of development of innovation in the field of veterinary medicine and within the Plan promotes Lugo Lugo andIn short, the strategy of promoting research and innovation in our economy ".
